Workblog for the week: Do-over.

Well, I mentioned a short story I was working on last week. Well, I ended up scrapping it and starting over, then scrapping it again, and starting work on a whole new short story entirely. This new one actually worked out okay, and although I’m not thrilled with it, I am happy to have finished it. (And, you know, I think I managed a couple of nice flourishes with text, in there.)

I also spent quite a bit of time this week stirring the slush piles of various sci fi magazines by sending them more fiction, which led to the mildly psychologically masturbatory experience of reading my old stories and enjoying them.

Sadly, I am sure not all of the slush pile readers will enjoy the stories as much as I did, but running across your old work and having fun reading them is always a pleasant and entirely unexpected experience.

Plans for the week ahead include getting some critting done for friends, and hopefully a little work on another short story. Not quite sure I’m ready to dig back into my novel project just yet, but it feels close…
